Dear Friends and Family,

After much prayer and consideration, I have decided to suspend my campaign for the Republican nomination for the 10^th Congressional District of Virginia in 2010. The current political climate coupled with the events of the last few days has led me to believe that the interests of all concerned would best be served by concentrating our efforts on the issues at hand as opposed to the people who profess to support them.

As you know, I am committed to the cause of conservatism, and will continue to support the principles of Fiscal Responsibility, Limited Government, Free Markets, and Strong Defense. I am also committed to electing those people who not only profess those ideals, but as a matter of record, demonstrate their willingness to do so.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 speaks of “a time and a season for everything”. Perhaps the time has come for us as a society to realize that it’s not just good enough for us to replace one party with another, but to replace those who have no regard for our Constitution with leaders who are willing to support and defend it. This will take leaders who place principles and values above partisan leadership, and leaders who are willing to risk their fortunes and power in favor of the ideals established by our forefathers in the Constitution. It’s clear that many people want change, but it’s also clear that in order to effect TRUE change, we will have to change our mindset as well.

As a people, we have willingly sacrificed our liberty in favor of security; and our sovereignty in favor of appeasement. I believe, as do millions of other Americans, that we’re on the wrong track; and, should we continue down this track, our nation will falter as never before. To that end, in the weeks and months ahead, I’ll be working with Liberty-minded Americans to lay the groundwork for a stalwart base of conservatives who are willing not only to speak of change, but to take action in favor of it as well.

Let me thank you for your sacrifice to the cause of conservatism and your willingness to support this campaign. I want to assure you we will not fade away. We shall see you on the ground, as we continue our campaign for America’s restoration. I’m going to continue the fight for our country’s restoration of values and principles and look forward to standing side-by-side with you in this challenge.
